I am delighted to welcome you to Wood Green School. In 1968 Wood Green School became the first truly comprehensive school in Witney and, more than fifty years on, the ethos of those early days, when all students were welcomed into a warm, caring community are still very much alive. Our motto, ‘Excellence for all’, captures what Wood Green aims to achieve every day. Since those early days, Wood Green has developed into a thriving, successful school. You will achieve exam success at Wood Green but you will achieve even more than that. Our curriculum and enrichment opportunities are carefully designed to ensure that students develop all the knowledge, skills and personal qualities to be happy and successful. We want the very best for our students, and we know it is working: the vast majority of our Sixth Form students go on to university, with over 50% this year at Russell Group universities and four to Oxbridge, well-above the national average. Other students are now on equally fantastic apprenticeships with some of the top employers nationally.
If you are here because you are thinking of joining Wood Green, we believe that Wood Green is a great place to come to school: since 2018 we have been oversubscribed in year 7 and our Sixth Form has grown by nearly a fifth! We are proud too to be part of the Acer Trust, a rapidly growing multi-academy trust of community-minded schools. People who visit Wood Green are always struck by the sense of community and purpose. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions we cannot offer tours of the school currently, but I hope this website gives you a flavour of the ethos of our school and the opportunities available. Please do contact us if we can help in any way.
